I was incredibly excited when Mattel came to me for a project that was related to the Hot Wheels brand. I had been creating automotive artwork for years and they had seen some of that work on my instagram profile. Hot Wheels asked me to create a design approach for a set of 8 Corvette Hot Wheels that were releasing as part of Chevrolet’s 70th anniversary of the Corvette. The tricky part, create a design system that feels cohesive across all 8 corvettes but speaks to each model individually. I started with using imagery and illustrations from real advertising and layering things on top to create a textured pattern that changes and moves with each model year. I also had the pleasure of working with their 3D modeling team to art direct the cars position and graphic approach. The set was a Walmart exclusive and have since been on ebay as a collectors item.
